Travel expenses are calculated at 45p per mile from Warwick and are additional to the quoted fee where applicable.

For international events, the quote will include return flights, car hire, a hired PA system, and two nights' accommodation (the night before and the night of the event) at or near the venue.

To secure your date, I’ll send a contract to sign, followed by a 30% non-refundable deposit (to be paid via bank transfer within 7 days of confirmation).

I'll then send you a final check in email 4-6 weeks before to confirm everything including song choices, final timings etc).

Please double-check your venue allows live music (some outdoor spots have restrictions).

I am booking up quickly for 2026 & 2027. Until the deposit has been paid to secure the date, I can only hold enquiries for one week.

The remaining 70% is due one month before your event. You’ll receive an automatic invoice 5-6 weeks before your date.

For bookings made within a one-month period, the total fee is payable immediately.

All payments are by bank transfer only for simplicity and security.

If a client-initiated cancellation occurs more than one calendar month prior to the event, no further balance will be due. For cancellations less than one calendar month prior to the event, the full balance remains payable.

In the unlikely event that James Burwell is unable to perform for any reason, the client will receive a full refund of any payments made. James Burwell will also make every effort to find a suitable replacement or recommend other professional saxophonists to ensure the smooth running of the event

Please give me as much notice as you can & I will try to be as flexible as possible, but cannot always guarantee a time change as I may have another event that day etc.

For solo gigs, I provide all equipment needed including PA Speakers, Sax Mic etc. (all PAT Tested)

If I am playing alongside your DJ, I will just need to plug my mic into their system - it’s a male XLR & I have adapters for it to be 1/4 jack or phono (so won’t bring my own PA System). Please check your DJ is happy for me to do this.

I always aim to arrive at least 30 mins before my performance to set up. As soon as my PA is set up I can provide a background playlist to set the atmosphere before I start.

Yes of course, although please note if it’s during the hot summer months I will need some shade (I burn easily!) - either a dedicated shaded area or some kind of garden parasol set up by the venue.

My PA Speaker is battery powered so I do not need access to a power supply.

Some venues have licensing restrictions on allowing amplified music outdoors, so please check this with your venue to make sure they are happy.

Yes! I have Public Liability Insurance up to £10m and all my equipment is PAT Tested annually.

I can provide certificates for both on request.

Yes of course! You're welcome to pick all to fill the time (15-20 songs per set), or just a selection and I will tailor the rest to the vibe.

I normally suggest choosing around 10 favourites as a guide for me & I'll tailor the rest/go with the flow!

Yes I'm happy to learn up to 3 new songs free of charge, as long as I am given at least one month’s notice.
